The Young Authors' Conference will not be at TRU on May 1st as planned. It will be held online and feature writing workshops over three days,
May 5-7, 2020. Students will be invited to attend a writer's workshop every day!
Gr. 4-5: 9:00-10:30
Gr. 6-7 11:00-12:30
Gr. 8-12: 1:00-2:20
Registration is in the foyer of the BC Centre (formerly the Barber Centre), which is in the Brown Family House of Learning at Thompson Rivers University from 7:50 to 8:30 a.m. Parents should drop off their children with enough time to register and be seated for the Opening Ceremony. See parking lots P and Q.
When students register in the morning, they will receive a list of the workshops they will attend.
Opening and Closing Ceremonies
Opening and closing ceremonies take place at the BC Centre. The Opening Ceremony begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. The Closing Ceremony starts at 2:30 p.m. Parents may pick up their children outside the foyer of Barber Centre at 2:45 p.m.
Following the Closing Ceremony, students and parents may visit authors' book displays in the foyer. Books may be purchased (cash only).
Workshops will take place in the Old Main Building. Students will be moved to and from the Old Main Building under supervision of teachers and leaders. See the Authors tab for workshop descriptions.
A healthy mid-morning snack will be provided to all participants. If students have special dietary requirements, they should bring a snack for the morning break. Students are responsible for providing their own lunches and drinks.
