The Young Authors' Conference is hosted by School District No. 73. Participating intermediate and secondary students attend engaging workshops facilitated by published authors and develop their writing skills.

This year's conference is expected to be in a hybrid format. See details below.

Each school has a contact who can provide more information.

MAY 5-6, 2022
The Young Authors’ Conference brings together committed young writers in School District No. 73 to work with professional authors. 2022 marks the 43rd anniversary of this popular event.

On May 5, SD73 students in Grades 4 through 12 are eligible to attend online workshops with their whole class, supervised by their teacher. Manuscripts will not be collected from students attending these virtual workshops.

On May 6, SD73 students in Grades 4 through 12 may be eligible to attend in-person workshops at Thompson Rivers University. Manuscripts will be collected from these students and considered for recognition and the Marg van Dusen Award. Space is limited and this in-person event is subject to change.

See the Conference tab for more details about the day. See the Manuscripts tab for composition criteria. See the Authors tab in March for this year's authors and their workshop descriptions.
